Learn TurboCAD to Draw an RC Model Airplane Plan!
2 hours and 50 minutes of video tutorials on two CDs
Go from a "clean sheet of paper" to a finished RC plane plan

2 CD set with over 2 hours and 50 minutes of TurboCAD video training on drawing model airplane plans
TurboCAD is a powerful and easy to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software program that is ideally suited to the RC plane designer for drawing model airplane plans. There are, however, some key insights on using TurboCAD that will greatly shorten your learning time for mastering this great CAD program.
This set of two CDs - available for $12.95 plus shipping and handling – contains over 2 hours and 50 minutes of narrated video tutorials that will take you step-by-step through a complete design and drawing of an RC model airplane plan. The CDs will focus on just those aspects of TurboCAD needed for quickly being able to draw model airplane plans.
Note that you do not need TurboCAD to view these video tutorials. The .avi video files on the CDs play in Windows Media Player.
Details of the TurboCAD training videos
The two CDs contain the following video lessons on learning how to use TurboCAD to draw a set of model airplane plans for the 3 channel, electric powered Snapper. The TurboCAD training CDs will discuss the basic layout of the TurboCAD user interface; the convenience of floating toolbars; how to use the line, curve and circle tools; employment of grid, snaps and trim for drawing precision; and the powerful features of the mirror command. With the mirror tool, you can literally just draw one half of a wing, fuselage or tail, and quickly make a "mirror copy" for the second half. All of the TurboCAD training is focused on the basics skills and techniques needed for drawing model aircraft plans.
Example of the TurboCAD training on the CD set - Drawing a wing spar for the Snapper.
The videos on the CD are a much clearer presentation of the TurboCAD work environment than is possible on a YouTube video.
TurboCAD video training lessons on the CDs include:
Lesson 1 – Introduction to TurboCAD
Lesson 2 – Using the TurboCAD tools
Lesson 3 – Prepare the Snapper frame
Lesson 4 – Draw the Snapper wing
Lesson 5 – Draw the Snapper wing ribs
Lesson 6 – Complete the Snapper wing
Lesson 7 – Draw the Snapper fuselage
Lesson 8 – Finish the Snapper fuselage
Lesson 9 – Draw the tail Snapper tail surfaces
Lesson 10 – Draw the Snapper landing gear
Lesson 11 – Add leaders and text to the Snapper plan
Lesson 12 – Bonus materials on using TurboCAD for RC plane plans
We will use the Yard Ace as a basis for this demonstration of using TurboCAD to draw RC plane plans. The Yard Ace plan was drawn with TurboCAD, and published in the September 2008 Quiet and Electric Flight International magazine. In the training videos, we will modify the Yard Ace to a new, 3 channel electric model airplane design called the Snapper. The Snapper has a low wing, wider fuselage and a greater wingspan than the Yard Ace.

The complete Snapper plan (see below) is on the TurboCAD training CD in three formats: TCW (TurboCAD for Windows Drawing File), DWG (AutoCAD native format) or PDF. The Snapper plan is available as a FREE download here in PDF format!
Please send in pictures of your completed Snapper, and I will include on the website!

In the video tutorials, you will see how to draw this complete model airplane plan of the Snapper with TurboCAD.
Be sure you can view the compressed videos!
The TurboCAD training videos are zipped (compressed) in an .avi format on the two CDs. You can download a FREE test 9.5 MB .avi video file here. This FREE test 9.5 MB file is compressed in an .avi format just as will be on the CDs, and can be viewed in Windows Media Player (there is a Mac version for Media Player as well). Please be certain you can extract (or “unzip”) and view the compressed .avi video file before you purchase the TurboCAD training CD set. I recommend that you "Save" the downloaded file to your hard drive, and then extract (unzip) the saved file from your hard drive for viewing. The TurboCAD training videos on the CDs (as with the download test) are much clearer on a full computer screen than the YouTube video below.
Anyone can use TurboCAD to quickly design and draw an RC model airplane plan. Purchase the TurboCAD training CDs for model airplane planes, and see how to gain the skills and insights on becoming proficient with using TurboCAD.
